✶Aftercare✶

Please follow all of the guidelines to ensure your tattoo will have the best chance of healing perfectly.

If you have a routine that has worked for you in the past, feel free to do that! This is just what I recommend based off my knowledge and experience.

  • Please do not drink alcohol the day before. This will thin your blood and make it harder to tattoo.

Make sure to eat a decent meal before your appointment, so you don’t have a drop in blood sugar. If you feel lightheaded at any point during the session, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Also I advise bringing snacks + water for this reason.

  • Please leave on for 3-5 days after the session. Please do not take it off as soon as you get home. If the bandage comes off prematurely, make sure you wash the area directed as below.

this is a medical grade adhesive bandage, it is water resistant and hypo-allergenic. It allows the skin to breathe but protects it from the environment.

Keep your eye on the wrap. Make sure it stays covering the tattoo completely. If the edges begin to peel that is alright. You can leave as is or carefully cut away any loose edges. Remove immediately if:

    • The tattoo becomes exposed / the seal is compromised (if wrap peels back exposing part of the tattoo).

    • Water or fluid pools up larger than size of a half dollar or more under the bandage. It is completely normal for some plasma to leak from the tattoo (making the tattoo appear blurry). It doesn't mean your tattoo is bleeding out or disappearing.

    • The skin feels irritated by the bandage itself. It is uncommon, but some people may be sensitive to the wrap / the adhesive. The tattoo will be itchy and the bandage may be an annoyance, but if you see a rash forming under the bandage or it feels painful, remove right away. If any of the above happen or you remove the wrap early for any reason, follow the traditional care below.

remove the recovery derm carefully- don't rip off like a bandaid. Peel back gently from the edge along itself almost like a command strip. Warm soapy water will help break down the adhesive, for example in the shower or under a sink.

  • The wrapping can stay on for a hour or so, just do not keep on over night.

Also, do not re-wrap it. Let it breathe.

Follow instructions in the “once you remove your wrapping” For your next steps.

  • Be sure to use lukewarm water (hot might sting) and an unscented soap like dial gold, dr.bronners (unscented baby-watered down) or any unscented soft soap to wash the area.

After gently lathering, rise off thoroughly but gently. And either air dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel.

Once dry, lotion may be applied in a THIN layer as needed about 2 times a day

-I don’t usually apply lotion until day 2-3, as my skin is sensitive and likes to breathe first. So listen to your body. If it’s very dry and itchy, it’s a good time to apply some lotion.

While caring for tattoo, be careful not to scratch the area, as abrasion can pull the ink out of the skin. You tattoo may start to peel within the first week, a bit like a sunburn and should flake off naturally. Do not try to pick the flakes, this could also remove ink. You may have some scabbing, depending on your skin and the location of the tattoo. Of you do, once again DO NOT PICK AT IT. Just keep the area clean and lightly moisturized and let it heal over time.

A tattoo is an open wound, so treat it as one. Avoid anything that breeds bacteria, such as pools, hot tubs and even placing it on a restaurant table. Harsh chemicals or scents will irritate it and make the area burn. Treat your tattoo well, and you should heal smoothly. The entire process will generally take between seven to ten days. However, it can take up to two weeks to a month depending on your skin. As well as style and size of tattoo.
Then after you are free to swim/be in the sun/go to the gym/etc.

-please keep in mind the less sunlight you tattoo is exposed to, the longer it will last and the brighter the colors will stay
